President Uhuru Muingai Kenyatta administration stated a malt Billionaire water project known as Northern water collator tunnel at Muranga. The tunnel was stated in order to address water shortage in Nairobi. The river was to be used in collecting water from river at their sources Aberdares and diverting the water to Thika Ndakaini dam for use in Nairobi.

The project was introduced in 1998 and approved by M/S Howard Humphreys and partner Limited- as East Africa Company that conduct feasibility studies on structural and engineering project. According to feasibility report which approve the plan phase 1of the project was to be implemented by 2010 but this never happened due to lack of fund

To make the long story short is that all rives have stated to dry. River in Muranga County have dried up Resident struck by water shortage and drougt with 20 liters Jerican selling at 200.Some years back Raila Amollo Odinga exposed the Tunnel of death saga that was meant to divert to Kenyatta upcoming mini city and which will slow and turn into desert.

 Majority of residents now are crying for help.No water for family and livestock.
