Mombasa children’s home was established in 1985 by the Salvation Army. It is located 200m from central business district Home salves the needs of orphans and vulnerable children among the abused and marginalized. The home ensures the children are provided with love, food, shelter and education within a religious environment.
The property stated as a home for elderly but as the time went by its charged dew the decrease to the number of elder to two.
According to the deputy manager Edith Miriti of the institution is that the Salvation Army believes that both girls and boys can leave in a loving society that provides them with their fundamental rights to develop and acquire protection from all form of discrimination and exploitation.
They have many branches in all part of the country which are controlled by the main home in Kabete Nairobi and they do not adopts children
The institution ‘admits’ at the lower age of two years and above. The home serves as a safe haven to sixty, the children enrolls and starts nursery school in the home, before graduating to join any of the nearest primary schools.
The home through the Army sponsorship office supports children in several secondary schools ,collages, and universities by paying half of the money required in those institutions will the other fees is paid by guardian.
The home takes the initiative to follow up the children progress in schools thus ensuring they are working hard and getting good grades.
Through education and discipline, thousands of vulnerahome.children have been transformed into independent and self supporting adults able to support their families and contribute to the economy of our country
